The new headquarters for the Area D-4 police, reflects the urban warehouse / industrial character in this section of Boston’s historic South End. A rear surface parking lot is screened from view with perimeter evergreen hedges and metal fencing. A new basketball court and overflow parking is located across Plympton Street. The basketball court features precast concrete seatwalls with raised plant beds, for game time viewing. Patterns of crushed stone in contrasting colors reinforce the urban industrial character, in lieu of high maintenance lawn. The perimeter streetscape of brick and concrete sidewalks, features new street trees and lighting.
